Overview

In this segment, Wes and Daniel show you how to setup a home wireless router. They walk you through wireless options like setting the Service Set Identifier (SSID) name, configuring the encryption type, and changing the default channels that the wireless access point operates on.

Objectives

The course teaches candidate the basics of networking and how to configure a small network with routers and switches. It teaches the difference between protocols like IP, TCP and UDP; between IPv4 and IPv6.

Describe Ethernet as the network access layer of TCP/IP and describe the operation of switches
Install a switch and perform the initial configuration
Describe the TCP/IP Internet layer, IPv4, its addressing scheme, and subnetting
Describe the TCP/IP Transport layer and Application layer
Explore functions of routing

Prerequisites

Cisco 2811 Router with Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.4(9)
Cisco CP Version 2.5
